I didn’t change ingredients for photos, what is listed is what is pictured. As long as you cook cornstarch long enough it should become translucent glossy sauce (as pictured in the second photo) – not goopy. Sorry to hear it wasn’t what you were expecting!

Eww, cornstarch. I should have known better. The photographs in the recipe clearly show a cornstarch-free dish, but I should have known when I saw “cornstarch” in the recipe. I was very disappointed with that, I hated the goopy texture which is nothing like an authentic Thai lettuce wrap dish. Other than that, the flavors were fairly okay.

I could not find a good lettuce to wrap with so I used Boston butter lettuce and made a deconstructed wrap salad.
